Life on the Road with Project Nowhere – Why Our Gear is Perfect for Bus Life Adventures
Real stories from real adventurers: Jordan, Makayla, Zig, and Lenny
There's something magical about chucking everything in and hitting the road with your dogs. No schedules, no boundaries – just you, your pack, and whatever adventure lies around the next corner. But as anyone who's tried van life or bus life will tell you, it's not all Instagram-worthy sunsets and perfect beach shots.
Enter Jordan and Makayla from Project Nowhere, the absolute legends who've been living this dream across Australia with their two four-legged co-pilots. Their story perfectly captures why we created Wet Dog and Co in the first place – because real adventures need real solutions.
Meet the Pack
Zig is a kelpie whose superpower extends far beyond being adorable (though he's definitely got that covered). This boy is Jordan's 24/7 sidekick – and we mean that literally. "He has to always be touching you," Jordan laughs. Talk about a velcro dog!
Lenny is a rescue amstaff cross whose exact breed remains a mystery, but his personality is crystal clear. His superpower? Making everyone laugh. Whether he's being his usual goofy, clumsy, outgoing self or smooshing his face against glass doors when locked outside, Lenny's the entertainment committee of this travelling circus.
The Reality of Bus Life with Dogs
Here's what those perfectly curated van life posts don't show you: the logistics of living in a small space with two adventure-loving dogs who refuse to stay clean.
"We didn't have a yard to chuck the boys in after a beach day or bath," Jordan explains. "So they would constantly run sand and drip water through the bus. Living in a small environment, they'd rub all over our bed and couch."
Anyone who's tried to contain two wet, sandy dogs in a confined space knows the struggle is real. No separate mud room, no outdoor hose, no laundry room for soggy towels – just you, your pups, and whatever gear you've got to make it work.
Sandy Cape: The Ultimate Test
When we ask about their top adventure spots, Sandy Cape in WA gets the gold medal. If you know this slice of paradise, you know it's absolutely stunning – and absolutely sandy. It's the kind of place where your dogs will have the time of their lives, and you'll spend the rest of the day dealing with the aftermath.
For Jordan and Makayla, our gear became the game-changer they never knew they needed. "Wet Dog and Co towels stopped them from rubbing all over our bed and couch while living in a small environment," Jordan tells us.
When Gear Saves the Day
We love hearing how our products fit into real adventures, but Jordan's answer made us grin: "Everyday!!!!"
That's exactly what we're talking about. Not just the big moments – the everyday chaos, the routine beach runs, the constant cycle of sandy paws and wet fur that comes with an adventure-first lifestyle.
Their favourite? "The matching dog towels with poncho towels because they are convenient and adorable." Function meets style – music to our environmentally conscious ears.
The Oops Moments (Because They're the Best Part)
No adventure story is complete without the "uh-oh" moments, and Jordan and Makayla deliver: "A few uh oh moments leaving them in the bus to go grocery shopping with a full bin "
We've all been there, right? (Please tell us we've all been there!)
Why This Matters
Beyond the laughs and the genuine love for their pups, Jordan and Makayla represent everything Wet Dog and Co stands for. They're living proof that the best adventures happen when you bring your pack along, and that sometimes you need gear that works as hard as you do.
Made fully or partly from recycled plastic bottles, our travel towels, travel dog bolws and bags are designed for exactly this kind of real-world adventure. Compact enough for bus life, tough enough for daily beach sessions, and quick-drying enough to handle whatever Zig and Lenny throw at them next.
The Mirror Effect
There's something beautiful about how these four reflect each other. Lenny's goofy, clumsy, and outgoing nature mirrors Makayla perfectly, while Zig's sweet, gentle, and quiet personality shows just how much love and care Jordan has given him.
